Ready or not, here we come.
Actually, the 'league' may have hit a slight snag. Severe thunderstorms have been forecast starting late morning and running through the evening. There are even flash flood watches already posted (the rain hasn't even started yet) until 7 pm tonight. Here's hoping for a rain delay. Maybe even a permanent one...
By the way, I forgot my other important news yesterday: I was able to fit into and wear my favorite khakis yesterday for the first time in a very long time. Woohoo!
Update: There's a delay of game until tomorrow when hopefully, the weather will be more cooperative. I think it's too early to say for sure.
Update redux: After acknowledging that a number of highly paid professionals (and the rest of us) had already re-arranged their schedules and canceled meetings to play flag football today and realizing that said professionals would have to AGAIN clear their schedules to play tomorrow, the flag football league "commissioner" (aka our boss) reconsidered his decision, so we trooped out to a local park to play. (Note, that we were NOT allowed to play on our own corporate campus football field!!)
We ended up with 3 teams. Ours had a bye the first round. That was a good thing because we had 8 players. The other 2 teams had at least twice that. We figured their exhaustion could only be a 'good' thing for us.
The field was absolutely soaked (basically one massive puddle) and it was raining lightly during game one. Our team ran some plays to get warmed up. Towards the end, the rain stopped and we even got a glimpse of sunshine.
A false sense of security.
In order to 'bulk' up our numbers, the "commissioner" joined our team and recruited a couple of the losers from the first game to play with us. He immediately took over as quarterback and basically all of our plays went out the window. Whoops. (He was really good, though, so it was ok. Not that he had much competition from a bunch of middle aged computer nerds.)
At the half, we were up by 14 points. The game was just getting good during the second half when the clouds returned, the *real* rain began and brought along a fair amount of thunder and lightning, so the game was called.
All in all, it was a good afternoon. Yes, we got soaked and muddy but amazingly, there was no need to call the paramedics and no one ended up at the ER. (There were a couple of near misses but everyone went home under his or her own steam.)
I took some Aleve in advance, but I'm definitely feeling it tonight...

A reprieve! YAY! Still, I can't wait to hear the outcome. I bet you will have fun.
Congrats on the pants. That's awesome.
I agree, I'll bet you have a blast even though you are dreading it!
WTG on the pants!!! That is such an awesome feeling!
Thanks, ladies! I'm beyond thrilled about the pants. If nothing else, because it's starting to get COLD here and I'll be needing them v. v. soon!
Sounds like a blast!!! How are you feeling today?
It was a blast but, yeah, I am sore this morning. I felt like I'd been hit by a truck when I got up but I've loosened up a bit since then.
