Hello Mr. Garter Snake! I love them, they're so friendly-seeming somehow. I found one in my basement at my old house and I picked him up and was taking him out in the yard when I ran into my neighbor. She looked at me and said "Is that a....a....SNAKE??!?!!?! and raced back into her house. And pretty much never stepped foot in my house again.
While I didn't pick him up, it was pretty cool to watch him slithering off along the path. We'd had some rain so I think that brought him out of hiding.

j/k.
what did your doggie think of it?
I saw a toad last night ... I thought it was a leaf then it jumped and I squealed like a little girl. embarrassing.
If you can believe it, she completely ignored Mr. Garter Snake as we walked past. Twice.
Sigh, poor puppy dog, she's getting old... Well, that and she was in her park-euphoria zone. So many new smells! Overload!!
